some definitions in our support
Here is a definition of pet off of Wikipedia: A pet is a household animal kept for companionship and a person's enjoyment, as opposed to livestock, laboratory animals, working animals and sport animals which are kept for economic reasons. The most popular pets are noted for their attractive appearances and their loyal or playful personalities. Their pedigree may also be a factor.
In some cases pets may also provide their owners with benefits, such as providing companionship to elderly adults who do not have adequate social interaction with other people.[1] [2] While some people believe in the physical and emotional benefits of owning a pet, scientists are currently working to verify these ideas with medical studies.[3] There is now a medically-approved class of "therapy animals," mostly dogs, that are brought to visit confined humans. Pet therapy utilizes trained animals and handlers to achieve specific physical, social, cognitive, and emotional goals with patients.[4] Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction. The most popular pets are dogs and cats, but there are also rodent pets, such as gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, fancy rats, and guinea pigs; avian pets, such as canaries, parakeets, and parrots; reptile pets, such as turtles, lizards and snakes; and aquatic pets, such as tropical fish and frogs.
Here is the definition of Chickens as Pets on Wikipedia Keeping chickens as pets has become increasingly popular over the years[1] among urban and suburban residents.[2] Most chickens are kept on farms for the agricultural production of meat and eggs but some chickens are kept as pets for entertainment and educational reasons,[3] along with homegrown eggs and sometimes meat. With the growing interest in all-natural pest control alternatives, people are now keeping chickens[4] to rid their property of unwanted insects and larvae, which uses the birds' natural instinct to seek out and eat bugs.Chickens can be tamed by hand feeding and by being handled. Some people are afraid that roosters will become aggressive, but this problem can easily be avoided if the rooster is handled properly.[5] Breeds such as Silkies and many bantams are generally docile, making them ideal pets for owners with small children.[6] Some cities in the United States allow chickens as pets but others ban them. Some may only ban roosters due to the crowing.[7] City ordinances, zoning regulations or health boards may determine whether chickens may be kept.[8] A general requirement is that the birds be confined to the owner's property, not allowed to roam freely.
Wikipedia definition: Poultry is a category of domesticated birds kept by humans for the purpose of collecting their eggs, or killing for their meat and/or feathers. These most typically are members of the superorder Galloanserae (fowl), especially the order Galliformes (which includes chickens, quails and turkeys) and the family Anatidae (in order Anseriformes), commonly known as "waterfowl" (e.g. domestic ducks, domestic geese and ecterim). Poultry also includes other birds which are killed for their meat, such as pigeons or doves or birds considered to be game, such as pheasants. Poultry comes from the French/Norman word poule, itself derived from the Latin wordpullus, which means small animal.
Poultry is the second most widely eaten meat in the world, accounting for about 30% of meat production worldwide, after pork at 38%.

I won my court case!!! Hooray! Cluck! Cluck!
I WON MY COURT CASE AGAINST THE TOWN OF BLUFFTON, BUT NOW I AM BEING EVICTED.
"We might never know why the chicken crossed the road, but a local judge will be asked this week to answer another vexing question: Are chickens livestock?

30 for running afoul of Bluffton's animal ordinance, which requires a permit to keep livestock. According to a police report, the family doesn't have town approval for its pet chicken, Smartie.
Stewart acknowledges she doesn't have a permit for the bird, which has lime-green painted claws and wears a diaper around the house. Stewart also admits failing to get permission to keep the bird from her homeowners association, which has its own animal rules.
But Stewart plans to argue in Bluffton Municipal Court on Tuesday that the clucker is a family pet, not a farm animal. " -Casey Conley

I AM BEING EVICTED BY D.R. HORTON! :(
After proving in the Court of Law in Bluffton, South Carolina that I wasn't "livestock" I cannot believe that I am being EVICTED by my homeowner's association!
Please help me stay with my family! If you have a pet chicken comment here so we could "prove" that chickens are common pets.
Thanks, y'all!
